[Dow Jones] RSS3 rubber on Agricultural Futures Exchange of Thailand lower on long liquidation, profit-taking, say traders. “Year-end liquidation pressure is driving down prices,” says trading executive at Thailand-based commodities brokerage; adds further correction during this week can”t be ruled out. Prices briefly fall below THB93/kg followed by mild speculative buying, but overall sentiment weak. Shanghai – Natural rubber futures on SHFE settle slightly lower on mild profit-taking, says Orient Securities Futures analyst Lin Hui; adds rubber contracts to stay in consolidation next few sessions. Tips rubber contracts to hover around CNY23,000/ton, citing charts. Benchmark March contract settles CNY130, or 0.6%, lower at CNY22,960/ton.

[Dow Jones] Tocom RSS3 rubber futures settle lower on long liquidation, speculative selling, but overall fundamentals strong. “Investors are taking profits ahead of tomorrow”s holiday, but physical demand may push up prices again in the next few days,” says broker in Tokyo; adds prices likely to move in Y260-Y275 range for rest of 2009. Markets in Japan closed tomorrow for public holiday. China”s natural rubber imports up 19% on month in November at 120,641 tons despite high local inventories.
